To start using the Permits module, Permit Types and Permit Zones must first be configured.
To configure Permit Types, company-level Admin rights are required.

To Configure Permit Types
- Log into HammerTech
- Select Administration > Permit Types
- Select the blue plus icon in the top right corner
- Enter the Name of the Permit Type
- Select whether you want to Only allow one Employer with an active permit of this type at a time (i.e. if a permit of this type is made, no other permits are allowed in the same Permit Zone at the same time)
- If needed, enter a number for Maximum Duration for the Permit Type (make sure to check the Weeks/Days/Hours drop-down is set to the correct setting)
- Select whether workers will be allowed to sign in and sign out of permits of this type
- If needed, select Checklists to be completed when work is started/finished on the permit and when the permit is closed out
- Select the Projects that will have the Permit Type available
- Select the Permit Zones that will have this Permit Type available
Specific permit zones are grouped by project to make it easier when selecting
- Enter any Custom Fields (additional questions) that are required.
Select how they are to be answered from the drop-down menu and choose if this field will be mandatory (See Custom Fields Explained) - Select Create
